With great pleasure, we are announcing the first event of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, also in Serbia, during which we will measure CO2 emitted both during preparation and the event itself.

Friday, 26th January 2024

Roundtable topic „(Un)Ready for the Green Future”

Working language: English

Considering that green transition and sustainable business are the strategic goals of the Chamber, and given that we organize over 40 events annually, our goal is to reduce our CO2 emissions, move towards organizing low-carbon events and become the best practice in the event industry.

The roundtable will address the green transition challenges from the perspective of both Serbian and German legal regulations on the green economy. The German government has approved investments in green energy amounting to 57.6 billion euros in 2024, representing a 60% increase compared to this year's planned expenditure. The goal of this increase is to continue funding heavy industry decarbonization, implement a green hydrogen strategy, increase energy efficiency in buildings, and expand e-mobility, all from the German Climate and Transformation Fund. On the other hand, Serbia adopted the Green Agenda Declaration for Western Balkans in October 2020 at the Sofia Conference, committing to implement its actions through the Regional Action Plan adopted at the summit in Slovenia in October 2021. The Joint Steering Committee meeting to implement the UN Sustainable Development Framework with the Republic of Serbia 2021-2025 highlighted that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals defined in Agenda 2030 is a national priority.

Roundtable participants (partners of the events) will also address the competitiveness of Serbian companies and their role in supply chains, discussing as the key topic whether the Serbian economy has the appropriate human resources and knowledge for the green transition era.

Companies interested in participating in the roundtable discussion can find enclosed the participation conditions and benefits. The condition for participating in the roundtable discussion is that the company has implemented projects in Serbia and achieved results in a green transition, and after the event an online publication will be available.
